The Internet and Kids
The Internet and the Web are a vast network of interconnected links. Following
links can lead in unexpected directions. In accordance with the library's Internet
Use Policy, it is the responsibility of each child's parent or legal guardian
to monitor their Internet use.
More information is available at The
Librarian's Guide to Cyberspace for Parents and Kids and SafeKids.Com's Kids' Rules for Online Safety and Online Safety Guidelines for Parents.
Newbery & Caldecott Books
The Newbery Medal is has been awarded annually by the American
Library Association for the most distinguished American children's
book published the previous year since 1922. The Newbery Medal
was the first children's book award in the world and continues
to be the best known children's book award in the U.S. In
1938 a second award was established, the Caldecott Medal,
to recognize the artist of the most distinguished picture
book of the previous year. Every year, one title is selected
to receive each award and additional titles are recognized
as "runners-up" or "honor books" in each
category.
We have compiled a complete list of both Newbery
Medal & Caldecott
Medal winners and honor books, arranged chronologically
by year, with links to the library catalog for easy searching
and reserving.
